Aidan andersonHow old were you when you started playing golf and how long have you been at Jeff Isler Golf with Coach Matt?
I started playing golf when I was three years old. My dad likes the game and it's a game we can play together. I've now been with Coach Matt at Jeff Isler Golf for six years (since 2016). Why do you love golf? I was bullied at my previous school and golf was the only game that brought me happiness. I really started to love golf when I started having success. Tournaments became fun. Winning is fun. I enjoy winning. What is your longterm golf goal? I'd like to become a pro - by age 15. |
What is your best piece of advice for a junior getting into golf?
Staying calm is very important. You have to learn how to concentrate. Make sure you get a good coach, and of course get a good caddie.
Question to Rob Anderson (Aidan's Dad): How would you encourage someone to be a great golf parent?
Jeff (Isler) gave me a few pieces of advice along our journey that have stuck with me. First off, good athletes make great golfers. We made sure Aidan was well rounded by playing other sports like wakeboarding, snowboarding, and basketball. Secondly, keep golf fun and don't overload them with tournaments and practice. Aidan has a series of chipping and putting games that make practice more engaging and interactive. Lastly, make golf more about improvement and growth, not score or placement in a tournament. Some of our best improvements have occurred when the score or placement in a tournament was not the best.
